Are you an EU citizen of colour or from a marginalised group living in the UK? Do you have a story to tell? Do you have a passion for photography? This October, we invite you to participate in "Stories of Hope - Diverse Voices" photography project to mark Black History Month and highlight the diversity of lived experience within EU communities in the UK.
Unlock your creativity and share your story of migration, your heritage, your EU citizenship and how you weave it into your life in the UK. Capture images of people, landmarks or objects which reflect your journey to the UK and your hopes for the future and describe them alongside the image.
Let your voice be heard and your story be seen. Submit your entry before 6th November 11.59pm and be a part of this inspiring project. We look forward to discovering your stories of hope through the lens of your camera.
The Project
"Stories of Hope - Diverse Voices" provides a platform for EU citizens living in the UK to express ourselves creatively and share our unique narratives. Through images and storytelling, we aim to foster understanding, empathy, and solidarity within our diverse community.
You can get started by taking inspiration from the Stories for Change project which inspired this open call.
Sharing your work
We will share all entries on our Instagram page, and determine the winning entry by an internal voting poll among Common Ground subscribers. We’ll invite the author of the winning work for an overnight stay in central London and to present it at our Common Ground Conference on 11th November. It will also be exhibited during the EU Citizens Gathering on 12th Nov. We will cover your travel expenses, accommodation & a nice dinner.
You can enter the open call even if you’re not able to attend these events. Your work will be acknowledged and shared with audiences.
